An Rialálaí Agraibhia (Agri-Food Regulator) is an independent state agency promoting fairness and transparency in business-to-business relationships in the agri-food supply chain.
The Agri-Food Regulator has two main functions. It is the Enforcement Authority for the Unfair Trading (UT) Regulations that provide legal protection against specific unfair trading practices (UTPs) for any supplier of agri-food products subject to their annual turnover being lower than the buyer’s turnover once the buyer’s annual turnover is greater than €2 million. Food and beverage products are classified as agri-food products.
And the Agri-Food Regulator works to bring improved access to market information through collecting and analysing price and market data with the objective of increasing transparency for the benefit of all.
Reports collating publicly available information on the beef, dairy, egg & poultry, horticulture and sheep sectors are available on its website, as well as information on UTPs and how to make a complaint in confidence to the Agri-Food Regulator.
